Top Tips To Save Money Working Out

At Mr Lender, we offer short term loans between £200-£1,000.

If you’re trying to tighten your purse strings, then you’ll be looking at your outgoings and deciding what to cut back on. If your gym membership is costing you a pretty penny but you’re finding that you hardly ever use it then it can be one of the first luxuries on the hit list. But not having a gym membership doesn’t mean that you have to let your fitness suffer – there are a whole host of ways that you can get and keep fit without having to fork out a monthly fee. We’ve had a chat at the Mr Lender offices and put together some ideas for you. If you give any of them a go, then get in touch and let us know how you get on!

WALK MORE

Walking is a great, low-impact way to keep fit and healthy. If you feel like you don’t have time to walk more then make time. Get off the bus or tube one stop early or take a walk around the block at lunchtime. Do you need to get in the car to pop to the shops, or could you walk there and back? You’ll also benefit from a clearer head and if your shopping is heavy then you’ve done another weights workout!

USE YOUR BODY

You don’t need a load of weights to get toned – your body is one big weight! You can use it to do push ups, planks, sit ups, lunges, squats – the list is endless! And for cardio you can jog on the spot, do knee lifts, power squats, jumping jacks – anything to get your heart rate up and your blood pumping.

STOCK UP ON BEANS

And we don’t mean for eating – although they’re a great source of fibre! Tinned food can work well as a makeshift weight if you want to go a bit further with the toning. If they start feeling too light, then progress on to big bottles of water.

LOOK OUT FOR PASSES

Have a scout around for seven-day class passes and trial memberships. If your friends join a gym, then find out if they are entitled to a free guest pass every now and then and buy them a smoothie in return for one.

SOCIAL MEDIA

INSTAGRAM – Find some good trainers on Instagram and follow them to take inspiration from them. They will regularly post photos and videos of their workouts.

YOUTUBE – There are hundreds of free exercise videos on Youtube just waiting for you to watch and workout along to. Whatever you feel like doing – from yoga to belly dancing to strength training – you’re sure to find it on the channel.

UTILISE YOUR SURROUNDINGS

Do a set of hill runs in a nearby park, and then use a bench to do some press ups and triceps dips (you can also do tricep dips on stairs or a chair or sofa). Find some stairs to run up and down, and you can even take a dip in the sea if you’re feeling really brave!

GET ON YOUR BIKE

If you already have one, then great! If not, then look out for decent used ones for sale. You don’t need a fancy, expensive bike to get fit – just one that will get you from A to B safely.

GO FOR A RUN

It’s completely free and you can do it whenever suits you – whatever the weather! If you’re not a great runner then try downloading the Couch to 5K app on your phone. It will ease you in gently and you’ll be taking part in your local Park Run – also free – in no time. You can also look for local running clubs, which are usually free. Don’t be daunted by the name – they will often have beginner’s groups, so you won’t be trailing behind a group of marathon runners on your first session.

Mr Lender is a multi-award winning lender and is rated five stars on Trustpilot by customer reviews. So why would you choose anyone else for your short term loans?
